I wasn't sure what to expect when first purchasing this book. But after reading the first chapter I was hooked. The taxi driver who is a very pious man has many amazing stories and experiences that everyone of us can learn from and relate too. I've read a lot of orthodox books from patristics to contemporary this is definitely one of my favorites!!! It's a must read!!!

Simple and wonderful, like a soft, clean pillow for your soul.

I am a simple-minded woman and after one of my children had read the first story at our local Church book-store I went back and bought it "for the kids". But after I read just a couple of the most profound stories of deep repentance and love I was so moved. In the book Mr. Katigas refers to God using a jackhammer on his soul and I feel that this book jackhammers my heart daily as I read the most beautiful stories. He is admittedly uneducated, sinful and unworthy, yet because of his great humility and love for his fellow man, he is able to allow God to speak through him to his egotistical passengers and touch their souls and mine as I read it.

A nun recently told us that the devil once complained that he wished that he could burn all of the spiritual books...because only one spiritual book can undo a lifetime of work in one soul. Allow this book to soften your heart and you will be full of joy!

Beautiful Book!

What a wonderful book! I loved the simplicity of the chapters, the arrangement of stories, the swift and easy reading. In simplicity it is still profoundly touching and the author's faith is truly inspirational. This is a great book for people of all ages. The author is Greek Orthodox and no doubt, Orthodox will love this book, but I think Catholics will greatly enjoy, appreciate and understand it as well. I took it with me on my travels and it was perfect because of the short chapters and the subject matter. I didn't want it to end!

Gorgeous color palette, educational, fun, and beautifully designed pop ups. Their small size is perfect for little hands. But the pop ups make a BIG impact. We fell especially in love with the Statue of Liberty...gorgeous!

Its high resolution stereo imagery, coupled with energy dispersive spectrometry, provides a level of compositional analysis that far exceeds the traditional light microscope. With magnifications from 25 to 100,000X, virtually the surface of any molecular structure can be seen and studied from microphotographs or electronic imagery together with printouts from an interlinked energy dispersive spectrometer (EDS). Offering an expanded list of microtextures, new interpretations of them and an assessment of how they may be used to discriminate sedimentary environments, this volume builds on the original "Atlas" and the work of practitioners worldwide. Including engineering tests designed to reproduce "glacial grains" under controlled conditions in the laboratory, new information on microtextures of heavy minerals, applications in the earth, forensic, archaeologic, and nutrition sciences, together with the use of the secondary and CL modes of the SEM, this book is a state-of-the-art presentation of where sand grain microfeature analysis lies at present and where it intends to go in the future.

The book was written for those who need to know about SEM analysis of surface textures of sand grains and I am not one of those. So my opinions are from a different point of view than the books intended audience. I deal with microscopic analysis of the surface textures of sand grains and the upper limits of what is illustrated in this book is about the lower limits of what I can see. However, one of the reasons I deal with surface textures is to help in determin the origin and transport history of sand grains and for this purpose the organization of the book is excellent. The photographs are clear, the vocubulary explained and there are ample expamples of the various surface features discussed. If you want to know what a particular surface texture looks like, that is in front part of the book. If you want to know what surface textures are found on rocks of a particular orign, that is in the back part of the book.. This two fold organization makes the book doubly useful.

I expect it to become one of the most valuable books in my library.

When US combat units began arriving in Vietnam in mid-1965 they were initially based in coastal cities. Munitions and supplies were delivered by sea at ports to directly supply the newly arrived forces. It was not long before American units began to venture into the countryside to engage the VC in the areas they controlled. Later, more inland bases were established and more seaports opened. The logistical efforts expanded and it became a major effort to run convoys to these bases. About the Author
Gordon L. Rottman entered the US Army in 1967, volunteered for Special Forces and completed training as a weapons specialist. He served in the 5th Special Forces Group in Vietnam in 1969-70 and subsequently in airborne infantry, long-range patrol and intelligence assignments until retiring after 26 years. He was a Special Operations Forces scenario writer at the Joint Readiness Training Center for 12 years and is now a freelance writer, living in Texas.

Gun Trucks Explained

This book give a in depth look at the convoy structure which developed during the Vietnam war.
The descriptions of the gun trucks and there usage by all facets of the military was interesting.
I think additional color plates of gun trucks would have been a nice addition.
I have gotten James Lyles series on gun trucks which is of great assistance because James main focus is the pictures available of gun trucks and the crews that served.

The book covers the inception, development and use of the gun truck during the Vietnam war. Although no two gun trucks were alike and no standards existed for the construction of the trucks, they followed certain patterns. There are many drawings and photos of typical trucks and photos of individual trucks. It is with having in your library.

Great book on a forgotten topic

During the Vietnam War enemy insurgents tried to hurt U.S. and Free World soldiers by cutting off their supply lines. Since most supplies were provided by truck convoys roadside ambushes became a common event. Military Police were designated for route security but were not available in the numbers needed to keep the routes secured and it wasn't the job of ground troops to do it either. So, transport provided their own security for convoys by escorting them with gun trucks, improvised weapon platforms which could hammer the enemy if they tried to attack the vulnerable convoys.

These vehicles were primitive at first, utilizing sandbags and prefab metal shielding for protection while using a few light machineguns for firepower. These would be exchanged for armor plating and a variety of weapons. Gun crews also painted nicknames and artwork on their gun trucks.

This is a great book, even though it's a bit of a slim volume. It includes original artwork and period photos as well useful lists such as names of known gun trucks used in Vietnam. The author discusses the evolution of the weapons, the units which employed them and many other interesting bits of information. The only thing that annoyed me was his references to "artillery air defense" units and weapons. The correct designation is Air Defense Artillery, which became a seperate branch during the Vietnam War. As an old ADA missile officer myself I found it a little grating although I knew what he meant.
